Seattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell, who missed this preseason because of a hip injury, will be placed on the injured reserve.
The information was confirmed by journalist Adam Schefter of the US ESPN on Saturday (1).
Maxwell, who signed a one-year, $ 3 million contract with the Seahawks, was being designed to be the team’s left-back starter.
Being placed on the IR this Saturday, Maxwell would not be eligible to be activated later in the season.
Dismissed by the Miami Dolphins in October last year after losing his starting spot in the Florida franchise, Maxwell returned to the Seahawks in November after cornerback Richard Sherman suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. You can watch Seattle Seahawks live stream free NFL match from here.
He played most of his return game as cornerback freshman Shaquill Griffin suffered a concussion in the first possession of the game, and Maxwell remained among the starters in the final six games of the season, eventually replacing Jeremy Lane on the left side.
Selected in the sixth round of the 2011 Seattle Seahawks draft, Maxwell started in 17 games between seasons 2013 and 2014 before signing a lucrative contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2015 free agency. He was then traded by the Eagles with the Dolphins after only one season.
